There's a site at redhat rawhide.redhat.com, but I don't know if they have it
there yet.

: 2nd Edition, and plenty of posts to DNS newsgroups!). Then I set up sendmail
: (also not an easy task, and I now have that wonderful O'Reilly book in my

: www.internic.com , etc...) I get "unknown host" errors and if when I first
: login after a reboot I can nslookup and get answers, but if I ping a www

: *** Can't find server name for address 209.160.218.3: No response from

Subject: Cannot access some sites
Date: 27 Jan 99 09:42:43 GMT

Hello all,

We have a weired problem that bothers us over a week now.
We have an old Linux box (kernel 1.2.13) with two network
interfaces, both 3c509. One interface to our private lan,
192.168.1.0, and the other to the lan with the link to the ISP.
This machine has a legal IP 192.114.159.17.

When using this machine everything is OK.
Hosts on the private lan use this machine as a gateway to the
world. Until a week ago, everything was fine. The Linux box
has IP Masquerading on, and every host on the private lan
could access anywhere on the internet.

Since last week, the hosts behind the linux box cannot access
certain sites, although the linux box can. One example is
www.hotmail.com.

I put another linux box on the lan with the ISP link, and gave
it a legal IP 192.114.159.25. This is a RedHat 5.1, kernel 2.0.34.
This machine cannot access www.hotmail.com, although its sister
machine, located on the same lan, can! It does access sites
those hosts behind the masquerading linux can.

If anyone has a clue, please email me at [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Thanks!!!
Eitan

Hi all,

Anyone know if there are plans to develop support for the recently
announced Gigabit ethernet card from Bay Networks/Netgear/Nortel? The
model number is GA620 and is selling for as cheap as $300 through some
online retailers. Currently it only ships with Winblowze and Netware
drivers. But considering how cheap it is compared to all the other gig
cards out there, it's an extremely attractive buy.

Thanks,

Heidi

Do you have the telnet and ftp daemons running when you try this?

Is there anybody who installed a Linux machine in Token Ring network?
Which network card do you use and how did you install the drivers?

You have seen bug/"random feature" of BSD (?).
It has been described in comp.mail.sendmail postings.

Quick fix: enable access to your auth port
with no auth demon running.
You will get
<<<TCP SYNC
>>>TCP RSET
instead of
<<<TCP SYNC
>>>ICMP unreachable

On my machine I apply the fix for short time whenever
I have such problems.

I had a similar problem with the 3COM  3CCFEM556B;
the driver seems to have an initialisation problem, the same card sometimes
works on a particular machine and fails on an identical but different machine. I
curse 3COM for claiming they support the Linux development, but they don't do
anything to make the bloody card work.
