You can edit /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifup. Look for the line that
calls dhcpcd and edit to look something like:

/sbin/dhcpcd -h $HOSTNAME -c /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifdhcpc-done
${DEVICE}

This tells the dhcp client to add the hostname in the options field of the
packet.

A warning: Your ISP may have pre-assigned IP addresses to the funny names
it hands out (no Dynamic DNS :-) so your machine name may not be the same
as the canonical name on the ISP's nameservers.

> I have tried :

Add the card to /etc/conf.modules. I have two Addtron PCI cards and all I
did as add the following lines to the file:

alias eth0 ne
alias eth1 ne

One problem is that, if your driver is he same for both cards, you cannot
always control which card will be eth0, eth1, etc. It will always be the
same card that get eth0, etc each time you boot but be warned that your
current eth0 might get changed to eth1. Yhis happened to me when I
installed the second Addtron card -- I swapped ethernet cables and all is
happy. This probably doesn't apply if your cards require different
drivers.

Why not set the router itself to dial out? Unless you have NAT or PAT=20
on the router, you could then route all incoming to your Linux box to=20
handle masquerade.

Your cisco CD or http://www.cisco.com/ should explain, with examplesm=20

I've tried Slackware 3.1-3.5 and RedHat 5. I bought a book which contained
Slackware 3.1. I knew nothing about the powers which I was about to
unleash. Slackware, not recommended for newbies, was my first distribution
to use. Very hard to use at first, but once you get the hang of things, the
rest is just too easy. It's like learning to drive stick before automatic.
Automatic will be a piece of cake.

IIRC you are running Redhat -- right? If so, add the following to
/etc/sysconfig/static-routes:

any net 255.255.255.255 netmask 255.255.255.255 gw eth0

and do an "/etc/rc.d/init.c/network restart"

The dhcpd daemon will listen on all interfaces by default. You _must_ have
a subnet statement for each interface or dhcpd will quite with an error. I
have never served multiple interfaces with dhcp so I don't know about the
all ones interface. Seems to me you cannot have the same route through two
interfaces...

Let me know how it works out.

 Been There.
I've got the same card. Once "properly" set up, it works very well. I went
and bought three more for my other machines.

Check that the card is set to jumperless, not plug and play, and that the
IRQ and IO Address is not conflicting with any other devices. This is the
likely cause of your error, so it must be changed. This is done with the
RSET8019.EXE on the card's installation disk.

Hello all,

I have an Apache server running on Windows. For performance reasons, I
would like to change that server to Apache on Linux.

However, the machine must also run Netbios for accessing data on a
linked machine; for security reasons among others, I cannot use
Netbios on TCP/IP to access the drives on the other (Windows95) host.

Is there a way to set up regular Netbios protocol (NOT Netbios on TCP)
on a Linux box so as to mount a Windows machine drive?

I wonder if the installer has registered the MAC of the

Looks very much like you are gong to have to manually install the card instead
of auto in the RedHat cfg, you will have to specify the Hex and IRQ for the
card in the properties. ie 0x340 irq=11 etc etc.

Hope this helps.

I can't buy a new nic because I just bought this one, and I'm running it on

Subject: Problems with incoming calls on ISDN device

Hi all,

I have an AsusCom ISDNLink I-IN100-ST-DV card on Redhat 5.2 kernel version
2.0.36, using isdn4k-utils-3.0beta2-2. I also have a modem piggybacked
through the POTS port of the ISDN card.

I have configured things so that I am able to make an outbound ISDN call,
that side of things appears to work fine. My problem is with incoming calls
and outgoing analogue calls.

When I connect a modem or telephone to the POTS port on the ISDN card, I get
no dialtone. When I try to make a call from a telephone to the ISDN number,
I get the following errors in my log files:
Feb 2 11:10:54 netsvr01 kernel: isdn_net: Incoming call without OAD,
assuming '0'
Feb 2 11:10:54 netsvr01 kernel: isdn_net: Incoming call without CPN,

Feb 2 11:10:54 netsvr01 kernel: isdn_tty: Incoming call without OAD,

Feb 2 11:10:54 netsvr01 kernel: isdn_tty: Incoming call without CPN,
assuming '0'
Feb  2 11:10:54 netsvr01 kernel: isdn_tty: call from 0 -> 0 ignored

I guess here that the ISDN card isn't getting any D-channel information on
the call, but for whatever reason either can't or won't pass it through to
the POTS port.

Can anyone offer advice on what I am doing wrong?

Cheers,
Tom
