That's what the error message would suggest, but my kernel already has
masquerading enabled (and working). It looks like a header file problem
in the source to me. I grep'ed all of the headers in the /usr/include
tree and all the .c and .h files in the net-tools distribution, and
nowhere is <linux/firewall.h> included. Without that, netstat believes
that the kernel has no firewall support.
Here's the output of netstat --version:

Alfonso,
It sounds to me like all you need is a nice set of hosts files. It will
take care of your LAN's "DNS" as well as binding hostnames to IP
addresses (which will allow you to then refer to machines using there
"english names" instead of using there IP addresses.
To do this, decide on nice names for your LAN computers. Then select
private IP's for these machines. 192.168.*.* will suffice.
Example:
On Windows 95/NT machines:
Computername IP
John 192.168.1.1
Jack 192.168.1.2
Jenny 192.168.1.3 etc.
Enter the corresponding name and IP number into the corresponding
machine's Network TCP/IP setup for the Network interface card. (Making
sence? If not, mail me: [EMAIL PROTECTED])
Then, create a HOSTS file and copy it to each Windows machine:
In c:\windows there is a file called HOSTS.SAM, which is a sample. Take
it, copy it to HOSTS (no extention) and edit it as follows:
Don't remove the 127.0.0.1 entry, it's needed.
Add all the machines' names and IP's as explained above to this file
(this file will then be used for name resolution and you don't need a
DNS server)
Save file and copy it to all Windows machines on the LAN (into the
\windows directory)
On the Linux machine:
In the \etc directory there is also a hosts file. Add the same entries
to this file and save it.
When you're done with all of this, ping the other machines from each
other (You know the PING utility, right? If not, go to command prompt in
Windows, type
PING <OtherComputerName>)
If everything works, you should get replies from the other machines.
Hope this helps. If it wasn't what you had in mind, let me know.
Good luck
Christoff

I have installed the Redhat 5.2 on my computer: a Pentium II 300
Mhz/64MB Ram/2 HD 6.4/Modem USR 33.6 and it serves to another 3 machines
on my small business. I have 2 questions:
1. How can i configure a DNS Server for a intranet (without internet
output)? or how can i make for win95 machines can use names addresses
and not only numbers?
2. Exists any last scripts for connect my Redhat 5.2 to the Internet (I
used many and nothing)?, i will receive any ideas

Here's the solution for you: Go to netscape's www-site, there is a page
which tells you with which shared libraries was netscape compiled.
Upgrading to the same versions helps a lot with these hangs (I can't
remember when was the last time my netscape hung :-)

Well I finally figured it out <G>. Apparently pppd was sending the output
from the chat script to the file /etc/ppp/connect-errors. So what I did was
rm connect-errors, then create a symbolic link to /dev/console and I can now
see all the output from the chat script. The only problem remaining is that
it does not neccessarily pick the right console to output to. I think the
solution to that may be your suggestion for using tail, and I'll experiment
with that a bit. Thanks alot for your help:)

upgrading or downgrading? I have the latest libraries on my computer. If i
change
them back to older ones, i prolly run into trouble with other applications
again. Sounds like a 'chicken or egg' problem :-)
Best and cleanest thing would be to recompile with my own libraries then.
I think the source code was available, but maybe only to a selected group
of people?
I also dont know where to find it.

Nope, the virus needs Win95's ways of starting programs and the
environment that win95 supplies in order to survive. Linux will not
support a virus for win95, although if they share the hard disc, it's
possible that the virus could trash the disc, erasing linux at the
same time as win95.
Best thing to do to protect yourself against viruses is to delete the
win95 partition ;-)

Anyone still have that URL for the article that covered Linux's 212% growth?
They covered the fact that NT's growth was partly attributable to needing more
copies just to get the same amount of work done. They highlighted exchange,
which can only handle 300-400 users per server (typically), where *nix could
handle 5,000-10,000 on comparable hardware.
I can vouch personally for the company I just left having the exact
limitations stated above with Exchange. And the gods forbid people start
zapping off those 5MB avi's and crap--good luck keeping Exchange up. :-P
