Derek,
If things work okay except for the error message, you could edit
/usr/src/linux/drivers/net/3c507.c
at line 63, add this line:
#define NET_DEBUG 0
that should be right above the line that says:
/* use 0 for production, 1 for verification, 2..7 for debug */
that will turn off the "Rx unit stopped..." message (as well as others).
Hope that helps,
J J

You should read the man-page for the rsh-command.
There you will learn about the files .rhosts and
/etc/hosts.equiv. These files should contain
information about what hosts and users are allowed
to use remote commands like rsh.

It depends how you want it to work.
If all you want is to stream a file then you can use Apache and steam MP3's
to WinAMP using HTTP.
There is an ADD URL option in WinAMP allowing you to play streaming MP3's
from such a server.
If you want realtime compression im not sure but I think I heard that Xing
have made such an encoder but even if they have XingMPEG is pretty awful
quality encoding.
Hope this has helped.

ummm, you have to _BUY_ it from HP, I guess. And as far as I remember, it
didn't come cheap either! Where did you get the HP's from? Normally when
someone buys the terminal they buy the software to go along with it. Perhaps
the person you got the terminals from can give you a hand - is there an HP
9000 server available? That one most likely will have the client software on
it.
The HP terminal software wants to install in /usr/lib/X11/700X or something
like that, but it doesn't particularly care on what kind of host it's running
- I've booted HP terminals of Sun, RS/6000, HP, etc, (never Linux though, but
I don't see why it wouldn't work).

I'd guess that you need to remove the pppd "auth" option, the company
NT doesn't seem to want to authenticate itself to you. There are
some comments below that may help to understand what's going on.

Some people from ML.org has decided to create a new service with the same
great ideas, DNS names for free. You can access them @ dhs.org. The only
problem is that they are just starting up, but they are in beta right now.

Perhaps as an NE-2000 compatible card, or use the de-500 drivers....
And, if anyone uses the card, is it any good?

Mostly just subjectively... the difference is easy to notice. Netscape stalls
frequently and ftp downloads are even worse. I get good connections (45k or
so). I often start with a transfer rate of around 2.5k/s and then it rapidly
drops and then stalls.

Does the Netgear FA310TX card work on a 486 machine? The manual (such as
it is) says it's for connecting a Pentium - no mention of 486 anywhere.
The problem is that, although the card seems to transmit information
(judging by the lights and tcpdump) it doesn't receive it (judging by
tcpdump and all other indicators).

Find the xdm-configuration-file Xservers (On my system
it is in /usr/lib/X11/xdm) and replace the line
starting with ":0 local" with the following line:
:0 local /usr/local/vnc/Xvnc :0 -desktop X -httpd /usr/local/vnc/classes

-geometry 800x600 -depth 8 -rfbwait 120000 \

(all in one line, assuming vnc is installed in /usr/local/vnc,
you may not want to use all the parameters, or different values)
Then start xdm.
Looks weird, but works for me.

That's not the way it looked in your first post. That kind of respose
time usually means that the IRQ configured in Linux is not the same
as the IRQ that the modem actually uses. I can't reconcile that with

Does anyone successfully have an NE2000 working with 2.2.X? I have tried
all 2.2.X kernels/patches. /proc/kmsg reports
eth0: Tx timed out, lost interrupt? TSR=0x3, ISR=0x2, t=1000.
when I try to ping.
Using tcpdump on a remote machines shows the machine with 2.2.X arps then
the destination machine responds. Using tcpdump on the 2.2.X machine
shows the arp, but no response. Which correlates well with what the
kernel is saying.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
