They are not "wrong"

There is a difference between a .sig and a signed message. Even pine can
correctly display the text portion. The mime encoded armor for the digital
signature is not big, and is needed for digital signatures...

If you dont know the answer, then no need to respond. If you DO know the answer,
then a response would help not just myself, but others that may seek the
response since it will probably be archived at places like dejanews for a LONG
time....

ok i would like to know how to set up the third mouse button in linux
without having to reinstall. I selected the generic 3button ps2 mouse, but
i did not check off the emulate 3 buttons because i figured selecting the 3
button generic mouse would cover it. Is there a file or something i can go
into to edit and select that emulate three buttom mouse thing? I can't seem
to copy and paste. I tried the high lighting thing with the right mouse and
clicking the right and left mouse buttons to paste with no luck. Is there
any other way of doing this without a reinstall?

thnx in advance

This is of interest to me (another reader) also. In my network file I

Sure, just go into /etc/X11/XF86Config and change (or uncomment) this

Hello...

I finally got diald to auto-magically dial into my ISP.
This is the plan...

1. The PPP connection MUST me started before the ISP starts a terminal
   login sequence.
2. To do this the pppd-options line for the diald.conf file must
   have the PAP login parms.
3. There must be a /etc/ppp/pap-secrets file.
4. Remove the login sequence from the CHAT script, let diald and pppd
   do the rest.

STILL have NOT gotten a good work around for Netscape's *NEED* to have
a (dns helper), which will be 'stale' after the first PPP dynamic IP
address conversion. I guess a CRON job to start and stop Netscape for
'automatic' EMail...

What the heck is going on here. I was down for the last couple of days,
exchanged NICs at CompUSA, had the same problem, and now is mysteriously
working again!

I'm using two DLink NICs and RH 5.1 doing IP Masquerading. When I exchanged
the two NICs, I still had the same problem. I still can't ping to one of
them (10.0.0.1) but now it works!

I didn't really do anything - maybe the rebooting kicked something into
gear. I also tried another PC - it didnt work either. Now I'm back in the
original PC and it works.

Can ANYONE explain this one?

Date: Wed, 03 Mar 1999 17:04:55 GMT

I've grepped the howtos and read the man pages, but can't find an
answer to this problem:

eth0 shows up properly in the boot messages. (It's a PCMCIA card,
cardmgr handles it just fine). ifconfig tells me that eth0 is there,
but:

unspec addr:[NONE SET] Bcast:[NONE SET] Mask:[NONE SET]

This doesn't alarm me since the dhclient hasn't been run yet.

When I:
# dhclient eth0

I am told:
SIOCSIFNETMASK: Cannot assign requested address
SIOCSIFBRDADDR: Cannot assign requested address
SIOCADDRT: File exists
eth0: not found
exiting.

What does this message mean, and what should I do to fix it?

Hello,

Hope the title made sense. I was wondering if anyone could
give me a rough estimate of the number of telnet users that
could be supported without "uncomfortable" delays to the
users for a given link, say 64kbps. (assuming that the
users are checking e-mail using pine or elm and/or reading
newsgroups using Tin)

Are there other factors that could significantly alter this
number? If X number of users can be supported over a 64kbps
link, can I assume that 4X users can be supported by a
256Kbps link and so on?

Please let me know if I have made any sense... and any other
info you may need to help answer my question.

Thank you,

Out of curiosity, did you upgrade all the neccessary packages before you
tried installing 2.2.2?

Well,
From what I gather when you forward you IP, it wipes your subnet IP from
the packet ... slaps your Internet addy into it and sends it out a port, and
saves that port information to a file. When it gets a packet back from that
port it knows that it is intended for the subnet IP of whichever computer
sent the packet in the first place. The destination port is of no
consequence to the computer doing the forwarding. What you need to be
looking for is a response to a specific port. As opposed to the port that
sent the packet in the first place. This is from the mini HOWTO on IP
masquerading for Kernel versions 2.0.x

Hello all,

Does anyone know of Netware NCP server packages for Linux that are
available with source code? I know of the mars_nwe, but I am trying to
evaluate more than one package and find out which one is most commonly
used.

Thanks
