In short I am having a problem with netatalk on a RedHat 5.2 install. As
far as I can tell I have installed and configured everything according to
the instructions, no errors on make, and whenever I try to connect from a
Mac, I get a login box, enter a valid username and password, and then "The
connection has unexpectedly been broken" in a popup with an "OK" button.
If there was a "No It's not OK" button, I would be set, but since there is
not I think I need some advice. Has anyone else seen this problem, and if
you have werer you able to fix it. Thank you in advance for taking the
time to reply.

Hi Mitch,
If you enable "VIA-Rhine" support in the "Networking Devices" section in
kernel
config, you will be able to use the surecom. Just like that. :)

the short form.
try 'export DISPLAY=:0'
If it works, place 'export DISPLAY=:0' in your .bash_profile , then
forget about it.

hi-
I've been using ncp mounts on 2.2.x kernels without a hitch until
2.2.3. If I revert back to 2.2.2-ac7 ncp works again.
The ipx_configure command reports an invalid socket operation.
Anyone else seen this ?

I really thought Linux Network Toolkit by
Paul G. Sery
ISBN: 0-7645-3146-8
Published by IDG books
was worth every penny.
It went from installing a simple and non-secure samba connection to
Corporate level firewall.

Try *this* for size - before I joined my company (Denis M Clayton), the

Mercedes and Bentley - two huge servers

Our two really old naff IBM servers are called:

Subject: Rewriting the From Address in Mail
Date: Thu, 11 Mar 1999 05:12:37 GMT
Hi All,
I installed sendmail 8.8.8 on my Linux box, It is working fine, I am able
to send and receive mails. The from address rewriting is also working fine
i.e [EMAIL PROTECTED] ---> [EMAIL PROTECTED]
This works fine if I use elm or pine , the problem is when I use MSOUTLOOK to
send mails. It takes what ever e-mail address specified in the Internet Mail
properties of MSOUTLOOK as from address, I want to avoid this functionality
and force every user to look in to database file and rewrite the from
address. for eg: A user uses 'test' as pop account for sending mails
through MSOUTLOOK, if the property of Internet mail in MSOULOOK has
'[EMAIL PROTECTED] ' as email address, then sendmail sends the same
address as from address to internet. How do I configure sendmail to forcibly
rewrite the from address as present in the databases
i.e [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Thanks in advance
Ravindra.

pppd and your ISP are exchanging LCP packets to configure the interface
and the negotiation is failing. Use kdebug 7 as an option to pppd and you
will get more info about the packets.

I have Red Hat 5.1 with a year old IOMega Jaz Jet SCSI card and an Intel
Etherexpress pro 100+ card.
Both cards hook IRQ 10, and both are detected at boot. No errors are
reported at boot.
But, the ethernet card doesn't work unless I remove the Advansys based
SCSI card. Is there any way to change the SCSI card IRQ? Or Intel IRQ?
They work under Windows ok.

Do you know that "did nothing special" and "installing a shitload of .rpm"
are mutually exclusive?
>I get the following error message:
>"mount: fs type nfs not supported by kernel"
The chances are that
1) you are using a different kernel and it has no NFS support
2) you are using a different set of modules and it won't load
3) you have upgraded modutils and that broke modules
Do a "depmod -a" and see if you got any complain. Then do an "insmod nfs"
followed by an "lsmod" to see if it is loaded. _If_ nothing goes wrong,
then you can try to remount your nfs volume.
>which of course I find hard to believe since I
>used NFS everyday (or almost) for the last 2 months!
It is like saying that you couldn't believe that your car blew its engine
because it has been running flawless for two years, and you did nothing
except replacing and installing a shitload of components.

Regardless, my point is that he will be unable to get a job doing linux/unix

It has no FCC registration info, but the NIC ADDRESS is 004005 1B1FD0
I looked the ADDRESS range up in the web and it belongs to
00-40-05 (hex) ANI COMMUNICATIONS INC.
004005 (base 16) ANI COMMUNICATIONS INC.

Please help!! The card had a "Runs with Netware" stamp..if that helps..

I am not sure if this's a samba problem or a win95 problem. After win95

entered the same name and p/word as I enter for the linux (Redhat). After
about 10 seconds, win95 pops up an error mesg, something like "No password

Anyone knows what is the problem, and how can I solve that? Any info is

Errors start occuring immediately after bootup (well, as soon as I can get to
a prompt to type ifconfig there are errors already). The number of errors
shown above is after maybe 10 minutes of uptime and a small ftp (incoming)
session. Any idea what would be causing them? I don't remember seeing this
happening before. My transfer speeds are about 4.25MB/s outgoing and 3.16MB/s
incoming (after everything is cached in memory).
In my dmesg, I see this:
eth1: VIA VT3043 Rhine at 0x6000, 00:80:c8:d8:32:84, IRQ 10. eth1: MII PHY
found at address 8, status 0x782d advertising 05e1 Link 40a1.
PCI latency timer (CFLT) is unreasonably low at 32. Setting to 64 clocks.
That last line is a bit disturbing but I've tried changing everything in my
BIOS but I still see this message. I have the same NIC in another box and it
works fine, no errors and no complains about the PCI latency timer.
Here is my system configuration (for the box that seems to be acting up):
Cyrix 6x86-PR166+ on a Gigabyte GA-586ATE
eth0: SMC Etherpower PCI (or something like that, uses tulip driver)
eth1: D-Link DFE 530TX (using the via-rhine driver)
Kernel: 2.2.3
I have CONFIG_PCI_QUIRKS set in my kernel config, but with or without it the
problem persists.
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks,
Ying Zhang
