hi,
i always get a "Invalid arguments" error (at runtime) at the "getsockopt()"
line which reads like this...
======= code =======
if (setsockopt(masterSock->sd, IPPROTO_TCP, TCP_NODELAY, NULL, 1)

what could be wrong in this???
also, the server shows incorrect CLIENT IP address with this...
====== code =========
printf("initTCPServ(): Established Connect with %s on local port %d\n",
inet_ntoa(their_addr.sin_addr),
ntohs(their_addr.sin_port));

Thanks. I found the answer in Section 3 of the IP-Masquerade HOWTO:
"Then you should add a few lines into your /etc/rc.d/rc.local file (or any
file you think is appropriate) to load the required modules reside in
/lib/modules/2.0.x/ipv4/ automatically during each reboot:
.
.
.
/sbin/depmod -a
/sbin/modprobe ip_masq_ftp
/sbin/modprobe ip_masq_raudio
/sbin/modprobe ip_masq_irc
(and other modules such as ip_masq_cuseeme, ip_masq_vdolive
if you have applied the patches)
.
.
."
Hope this helps someone. I spent many hours on it.

The command i used was
smbmount //<NetBiosName>/<ShareName> Password -U <User> -c 'mount
<mountPoint>'
I also did change the smbmnt file permission to +s

The problem is that it doesn't. MediaOne apparently does something
squirrelly with their DHCP; I've been poking at this thing for months and
haven't gotten anywhere. I finally gave up and am only using the cable
modem through win95 - better that than nothing, I guess.

Thanks, Howard! That worked for me.
If I did an ifup eth0, the module would get inserted and eth0 was visible
after an "ifup eth0" and an "ifconfig -a", but it showed an interrupt of 255.
I changed the interrupt settings in my old bios and all is well.

I tried hard to do a PLIP install once, and although at least one
other person on this group did it successfully and tried to help me, I
never got it to work (even though both machines had working PLIP
interfaces). For less than $20, I bought a connector which lets you
plug a laptop hard drive into a desktop IDE bus, and the install went
seamlessly (from the desktop machine's CDrom).

Subject: IP masquerading wint RH 5.2 multiple IP
Date: Sun, 9 May 1999 17:16:08 +0200
Hi there.
I am trying to set up a linux box supporting multiple IP adresses.
I have 2 ethernet-cards installed, and have assigned multiple IP aliasses to
each card.
ex.
eth0 192.168.1.1
eth0:0 192.168.2.1
eth0:1 192.168.3.1
eth0:2 192.168.4.1
eth0:3 192.168.5.1
eth0:4 192.168.6.1
eth1 xxx.xxx.xxx.100 Internet IP
eth1:0 xxx.xxx.xxx.101
eth1:1 xxx.xxx.xxx.102
eth1:2 xxx.xxx.xxx.103
eth1:3 xxx.xxx.xxx.104
eth1:4 xxx.xxx.xxx.105
I would like to be able to masquerade the different subnets to its own
Internet IP
ex:
192.168.1.x <> xxx.xxx.xxx.100
192.168.2.x <> xxx.xxx.xxx.101
192.168.3.x <> xxx.xxx.xxx.102
192.168.4.x <> xxx.xxx.xxx.103
192.168.5.x <> xxx.xxx.xxx.104
192.168.6.x <> xxx.xxx.xxx.105
I have tryed the following, but it do not seem to work.
ipfwadm -F -a masquerade -W eth1 -S 192.168.1.0/24 -D 0.0.0.0/0
ipfwadm -F -a masquerade -W eth1:0 -S 192.168.2.0/24 -D 0.0.0.0/0
ipfwadm -F -a masquerade -W eth1:1 -S 192.168.3.0/24 -D 0.0.0.0/0
ipfwadm -F -a masquerade -W eth1:2 -S 192.168.4.0/24 -D 0.0.0.0/0
ipfwadm -F -a masquerade -W eth1:3 -S 192.168.5.0/24 -D 0.0.0.0/0
ipfwadm -F -a masquerade -W eth1:4 -S 192.168.6.0/24 -D 0.0.0.0/0
However if I use the following it will work, but then all subnet will
masquerade as 1 IP address.
ipfwadm -F -a masquerade -W eth1 -S 192.168.0.0/16 -D 0.0.0.0/0
Can anyone help me solve this problem.

It's easiest done by configuring your apache to act as a proxy between the
NT server and the network.

Perhaps this question is a bit of a newbie question but I will ask any
way.
If one changes configurations for Samba (or any other networking
service) how can one restart the services with the new configuration
without rebooting?
Thanks in advance,

Maybe I don't have a handle on all this but when I issue the command
"samba stop" while in the /etc/rc.d/init.d directory bash comes back
with "samba command not found".
Also, suppose that perhaps samba is not the only service that I wish to
restart. Is there a command that will rescan initd and get the whole
ball rolling over again?
Thanks,

Subject: Can't connect to modem after RH6 upgrade
Date: Sun, 09 May 1999 16:21:57 GMT
I am having a problem trying to connect to my ISP (IBM Global) after I
did a fresh install of RH6.0 over RH5.2. I did a full install,
overwriting the prior version.
I had NO problem with my scripts when I used RH5.2 right before the
new install. As shown in the log message below, chat can't get
terminial parameters which results in an error? I also tried using
KPPP, but when I try querying the modem, all I get is "sorry, modem
busy". I exited out of Linux and got in Win98 and connected with no
problem. I then went back into Linux where I still had problems. I
am using /dev/ttyS1 instead of cua1.
Is there something else that needs to be modified? I checked my
conf.modules file but don't see any ppp modules besides the
compression ones. Is there another module to install?
Thanks for the help

ARNS - A Remote Network Server
*Since 1992, the University of Melbourne ARNS packages ("A Remote Network
Server") have been providing the ability to connect remote clients to
AppleTalk services by creating personal AppleTalk tunnels over the IP
Internet.
*These clients may be Macs using Async AppleTalk, ARA or PPP AT/IP and
connected via a serial line to a UNIX host or Macs with IPRemote using
MacTCP or Open Transport via Ethernet, SL/IP or PPP.
*An ARNS server can be run on a UNIX host (either as a dedicated server or
as part of the shareware version of UAR) or on an IP-connected System 7
Macintosh that is connected to a LocalTalk or EtherTalk network.

Subject: Problems with looking up hostnames after upgrade
Date: Sun, 09 May 1999 16:27:24 GMT
we recently upgraded from slackware 3.1 to 3.6, and now our machine is
having severe problems getting hosts from ips.
TCP wrappers should give out the username@host when we connect to our
server, but that doesnt work. it gives usernam@ip.
In my perl scripts and includes on my web page
(http://www.academic.marist.edu/carob/) it should be saying came from
host / ip but that doesnt work either.
Even more peculiar, we have listings in /etc/hosts like
148.100.215.108 area51.groom-lake.nv.us area51
When i connect to the machine, it used to say
"[EMAIL PROTECTED]" but it wont even do THAT anymore.
I have no idea exactly where the problem is. Ive checked the kernel,
my perl scripts, ive recompiled my wrapper program. im just lost!
PLEASE anyone who can help. PLEASE.
