You might want to check out the "Mbone conferencing tools",
http://www-mice.cs.ucl.ac.uk/multimedia/software/
which are available for linux, both as pre-compiled binaries as well as
source code.

Ummm,

Something's strange. I set up Qmail on a Redhat 5.2 system, and I am not
getting attachments with Outlook Express. I am using IMAP. It is strange
because I am looking at the "Message Source" and I see a lot of gobbly gook
at the bottom of the message which means there IS an attachment out there,
but Outlook Express is not recognizing it and decoding it.

Anyone have any ideas of what could be wrong?

I used to get similiar messages trying to get NIS running (ypserv and
ypbind). It was becasue I was trying to start them (in rc3.d) before
the portmapper was running (S40portmap on my RH5.1 system). I believe
it's located at /usr/sbin/portmap. Once I made sure this was running,
everything worked great. Since (I think) mountd and nfsd are rpc based,
the portmapper must be running.

Good Luck

Hello,

What do I need to do to setup RH6 to use my Eicon Diva 2.0 PCI ISDN
interface card? (U.S. U interface). I've been hunting around and believe
I need to use the HiSax driver, but have no idea how to set it up. Where
can I find information on getting this all going? I couldn't find anything
in any of the usual HowTo documents.

Thanks!

If you're concerned, instead of re-enabling identd, use a landshark
program. That is, install something that follows the identd
protocols, but which always gives out the same bogus answer,
regardless of who's doing what. (Knock knock knock. Who is it?
Landshark.)

WebMerger is a CGI parser engine that extends HTML with a set of
tags enabling server executed functions such as:
* Sending mail
* Database queries
* IF and ELSE flow control
* cookies
* variables
* + much more
This is extremely simple to set up and learn without programming
experience.

If you are using LILO then type DOS when you see th prompt LILO boot:
Then you will (hopefully) get up the usual NT boot manager

You can just mount the ms-dos partition with the command
mount -t msdos dev/hda1 /mnt

Try smbmount. there are few manpages and HOWTOS about it.

Sorry. It won't work under Linux.
You'll have to buy another modem.
Or you could try writing drivers to make winmodems run under Linux. :)

Subject: Linux disables NIC under Windows 95 on dual-boot
Date: Mon, 17 May 1999 20:54:12 GMT

Hello all,

On my dual-boot machine, things work just fine under Windoze 95,
and also under Linux.

Problem is, when I boot into Windoze 95 after having booted into Linux,
Windoze doesn't recognize one of my two NIC's. I get the following
message:
"The device is not present, not working correctly, or does not have all
the drivers installed. See your hardware documentation. ( Code 10.). "

My guess is, Linux does *something* to the NIC causing it not to be
recognized.

Here are specifics:
Linux Kernel: 2.2 ( Red Hat 5.2 )
NIC: 3Com EtherLink III (3C509B) in ISA mode.

Both Linux and Windows use:
IRQ: 10
I/O range: 0x300-0x30F

Any help is appreciated.

PS: My other NIC is in an SMC EtherEZ in "Plug and Pray" mode.
This card works fine under Linux and Windows, even after booting from
one to the other.

Try adding the following two lines to one of your system startup
scripts. This will set up the loopback device you're looking for.

IFCONFIG lo 127.0.0.1
ROUTE add -net 127.0.0.0 netmask 255.0.0.0 lo

Also, as another poster noted, when you have:

>hosts
>=====
>127.0.0.1      linuxserver.powersb.po.my       localhost

You really should have just:

hosts
=====
127.0.0.1       localhost
