Recently I noticed such programs on Freshmeat...

I didn't try them...
- ACUA (140 kB)

I hope this helps to regulate the children... :)

WE have a POP account for sending Mails and browsing Internet. I our
network we have many users who would like to get mails individually
using the same account. It is like having multiple internal account with
only ine POP accounts. for example:
if Jatin is a user and a mail is sent to us with address "jatin"
<[EMAIL PROTECTED]> and we get this message linux should send it
automatically to jatin's account.
Please tell us and give us complete coding to help us in doing the

I wrote a small program called ifmon that watches a specified interface
and executes a desired command should the interface disappear. It was
originally intended to monitor a point-to-point connection and re-dial
it when the connection was broken. I have used this to facilitate
keeping a VPN connection alive using Linux.

Date: Tue, 13 Jul 1999 06:47:19 GMT
Hi,
My winnt box is connected to a linux box. The linux box is connected to
a winnt server which has two network cards and acts as a router between
two subnets.
/---- subnet 1 -----\ /---- subnet 2 ---- ...
WINNT <-> LINUX <-> WINNT <-> ...
The linux box is able to ping to everybody on the other subnet. But my
winnt machine can only ping to machines on the same subnet. It seems to
me it's a problem on the linux box.
How can I find the wrong/missing setup?
Any help appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Subject: How to connect dumb terminals via Lan and more?
From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Glenn)
Date: Mon, 12 Jul 1999 18:37:39 GMT
Greetings,
I have two questions.
1. How does one physically connect and then cause a login prompt to be
generated on a dumb terminal via a Lan connection (Serial to Twisted
pair on a 10baseT hub)?
The terminal is a Wyse-60. I have succesfully done this in the pase using a
serial cable and making the appropriate changes to inittab. So the equipment
does work. I have 2 boxes set to use as servers. One is running RedHat 6.0
and the other Caldera 1.3. Getting this to work from either would be fine.
2. How would I cause an existing Linux workstation to initially login to a
centralized server rather than logging into the station and then telnetting?
I've read various how-to's and information on connecting RJ45 to DB25 but
nothing I read seemed to fit either situation correctly.
Thank you,

I had an electrical storm the other day, and my Linux server rebooted.
Everything is fine, except for netatalk. It won't function properly. Every
time I want to stat the services, I get the following error:
nbp_rgstr: Connection timed out
couldn't register <computername>:Workstation@
Can anyone help me troubleshoot this?
The AppleTalk service (atalkd) starts - I see the message during boot up,
and I see the process running. I just can't figure out why nbprgstr isn't
working. I'm using the commands:
nbprgstr -p 4 <computername>:Workstation
nbprgstr -p 4 <computername>:netatalk
Thanks,

gracias gracias

The ISP doesn't authenticate itself, actually. If I understand
correctly, this is the reason I need the noauth option for. Otherwise
pppd would require the ISP's authentification. According to pppd's docu-
mentation noauth is a privileged option and must be placed by root into
either /etc/ppp/options or a file in /etc/ppp/peers. Furthermore it
discourages putting it into /etc/ppp/options.
Have I got something wrong?

Let's make it more clear.
Are you sharing the vendor router(cisco 2500) with other people?
Or it's just for you?
If it's only for you, why do you need an another router?
If you're sharing the vendor router with others, then you'll probably need
an another router.
However, you've already got non-real IPs (10.*.*.*), and it means you're
already using masqueraded IP addresses.
You're trying to masquerade the already masqueraded IP adresses.
It's certainly possible, but I can't figure it out what the use of it is.
