Mike,
I'm not 100% if this is the problem, but Red Hat and Slackware uses
different libraries: Red Hat 5.1 uses glibc-2.0.7 and, gosh, who knows
what version of libc Slack 96 uses.
I'm not sure I understand your second problem. It would be helpful
if you could post the command you typed and your exports file.

It's Netware 4.11 and to clarify I'm using this Linux box as a ppp
"server" to allow some of our users to connect remotely and provide them
with the directory services, file and printer sharing that we have in
place. If you happen to know of some more documentation or sites that
may be of assistance I would appreciate it. I have read the HOWTOs on
ppp and ipx and they were a good start.
Thanx again.

Make sure you are running the latest version on kppp. I had this problem

I am trying to set up an e-mail system on our 20 user network. I have
installed Sendmail and ids-pop3d and Fetchmail. I can send mail to the
server without a problem, I can send mail to users without a problem. The
mail is definately on the server because I can manually get into ids-pop3d
and see that there are messages awaiting delivery. I just can't get my
client e-mail application (outlook) to connect!
I don't know which program I should be configuring here! I have Fetchmail,
Sendmail, and ids-pop! My question is..... what programs should I have! I
have been unable to find any how-tos to tell me exactly what I need to meet
my requirements.
Thanks!

Redhat does a linux certification program, I've heard that it's quite good,
but I know for sure that it's long and OBSCENELY expensive. Maybe that's just
me and my broke ass though. If you're part of a big company that can pay it,
why not?

Well, that was a thought, but no luck. I installed the ipmasqadm and went
through the command below, but it didn't work. The problem is, the port
5000 is on the linux box - when I ran a network sniffer, i could see the
port being hit from outside the network, with the port 5000 incoming and
outgoing, but the port was instantly RESET when it was hit. So at least I
know connections are making it to port 5000 - it just isn't accepting any
from the outside world to that port. It make absolutely no sense. The best
part is, if I telnet from a machine inside the network using the internal IP
addressit works fine on port 5000 - if I telnet from that same machine to
the external ip address of the linux box on port 5000, it fails.
I actually tried to the portfw from the external port 5000 to the internal
one, but it never got past the first port rejecting the connection.
I feel like I am being really dumb here........

comp.os.linux.networking was created to reduce posts to
comp.os.linux.misc and you're cheating by crossposting to both,

Hi all,
Any suggestions on how to setup DHCP on Linux 6.0 to acquire an IP address.
I can boot to windows (gets IP dynamically)get all the necessary
info...gateway, dhcp server , Dns, IP etc and input that on Linux for a
static IP and things work fine. However this information changes frequently
and I do not want to keep booting to windows to get my configuration. When I
setup Linux to use DHCP it sits at the "configuring eth0 for awhile" then
fails. My ISP is GTE and I am using a Intel Pro 100+ Ethernet card.
