OK I tried it your way Jon and Pine kept opening with errors about
incomplete domain name for Gaspar (my computer's new cool name).

So I ran netconfig and set my hostname as Gaspar and domain as oz.net

Now when I send mail from Pine I get the following header:

>From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mon Aug 24 21:14:18 1998
Return-Path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Received: from Gaspar.oz.net (dchurch@localhost [127.0.0.1])

Received: from mail.oz.net

Which has Gaspar added to my ISP's domain.

My /etc/HOSTNAME is:

    Gaspar.oz.net

My /etc/hosts is:

#
# hosts This file describes a number of hostname-to-address
# mappings for the TCP/IP subsystem. It is mostly
# used at boot time, when no name servers are running.
# On small systems, this file can be used instead of a
# "named" name server. Just add the names, addresses
# and any aliases to this file...
#
# By the way, Arnt Gulbrandsen <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> says that 127.0.0.1
# should NEVER be named with the name of the machine. It causes problems
# for some (stupid) programs, irc and reputedly talk. :^)
#

# For loopbacking.
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.0.1 Gaspar.oz.net Gaspar

# End of hosts.

Both of these files were written by netconfig

Any clue how I can make my from address just be [EMAIL PROTECTED] while logged
into Gaspar as dchurch?

TIA
David
