Does the user have an entry in passwd and shadow? Can the user login via 
telnet? Does the <user> file exist in the mail spool directory, but not a 
.<user>.pop file? 

I'm just waking up, but it looks like a DNS issue not resolving the 
connecting client's name. I've seen those in my log file from time to 
time. But they exist for events from various users, including myself.
