I have two problems at the moment. hopefully, someone can help me. ;-)
1. i am having a problem with my RPM database. specifically, i have tried
to uninstall some packages (e.g. gtk-0.99.970925-2) because i am having
problems getting control-panel to work. this will be detailed in problem
2. anyway, when i try "rpm -e" it says that gtk is not installed but an
"rpm -qa | grep gtk " says it is. so, i can't uninstall it. so i tried to
install it using "rpm -i" but it says that the package is installed
already...so i do an "rpm -i --force" and it goes on but the problems
listed above remain. hmmm...
is there a program out there that repairs the rpm database? i have looked
at the rpm repository at rufus.w3.org but no luck.
2. I no longer seem to be able to run control-panel. i can run the
individual programs in it, though. when i do try, it reports an error:
Undefined symbol: gtk_tooltips_set_tools
i looked through the header files and it seems to be defined there. i
thought it might be a problem with the gtk and gtk-devel packages, or maybe
the control-panel rpm so i force installed them due to problem 1 above.
but this has not helped.
any help would be appreciated. ;-)
