Please don't flame me for:
1) not having the time to check my facts
2) responding without having any experience w/ATAPI
zips.
BUT....
My Zip drive is of the parallel-port species.
When mounting the zip drive, I must treat the device
as /dev/sda4, if I recall correctly.
The zip drive is /dev/sda, but I must mount the
specific partition, the same way I mount my second harddisk
as /dev/hdb1, not /dev/hdb, dispite the fact that /dev/hdb
has only one partition.
Zip disks are similarly partitioned, which is why I mount
/dev/sda4, not /dev/sda.
For some retarded reason, the factory-default partition
scheme for Zip-disks is to have one primary partion,
but that partiton is numbered 4, rather than 1. (see the
Zip-drive Howto).
So...
If you havn't tried to already, mount the disk as /dev/hdd4,
and see what happens. If that doesn't work, you might want
to do an "fdisk /dev/hdd" and then "p" to take a look at the
disk's partition table.
Let me know if any of this works,
