If you look in the /usr/src directory there is probably a link from 'linux'
to
the actual source directory. In the tar file all of the source lives under
linux, so when
you untarred everything it wrote over the existing kernel source that you
had. This little trick bit me the first time I installed the source.
To check this, do a 'cd linux-2.0.xx', and then type 'cat Makefile | less'
The first three lines should give you ther version of the linux source tree
you have just installed.
You may want to move it to the correct subdirectory name and then re-create
the link, but you may not need to do this.
