Hi everyone,
I am fairly new to linux and have been lurking around in here for a
while now. I have installed SuSE 5.2 (& upgraded the kernel to 2.0.36)
running on a P200MMX with 64 Mb. I am using a 4 Mb S3 ( Virge / DX
)based
graphics card.
And I have run into a few problems which i'm sure all you nice people
can help me with.
1.
If I start X-Window (with fvwm2) and I run the GIMP program then exit
GIMP and shutdown x-windows my display becomes all messed up the
majority of the character on the screen being " !"�$%^&*() " when I
type reset. It tries to reset the display but pressing any key will
usually produce one of the above symbols. The problem appears to be
worst if I set-up the graphics card as a Virge /DX but also happens if
I
set it up using the 375 (generic) chipset ( this was the other number
on
the graphics card box and checked using the s3 id utility ). So what m
i
doing wrong or what have I missed ??
2. Can I install both the glibc & libc5 on the same system ? How ?
3. How can I add programs to fvwm2 so that when i right click i can see
them on the menu ?
Thanks for your patience in reading this message. Any help great fully
received, So that I may soon be able to remove windows 95 completely.
