If conversion to and from Word for Windows format is important,
then WP works and SO doesn't (especially Word 97, which SO
doesn't even claim to support. Word 95 format is supposed to
be supported in SO, but I've found it's very flaky).
Static SO is very slow to load. I've found WP to be much
faster. Obviously SO gives you many other types of software;
spreadsheet (although WP supports a lot of table functions),
math, graphics etc. If you need this stuff, obv that's a
factor. I don't, so I've erased SO from my HD (at least for
now).
