This gave me "No such image" , then it went to the RedHat login screen and
stuck as before

I tried the boot disk that came with RedHat 5.1 . That gave me "could not find
kernel image : mount. loading boot failed".
But then the boot disk that I made as directed at installation time, worked. I
got to my regular Xwindowa-Afterstep screen. Then I edited the first line of
/etc/passwd and took out the text between the two carets and rebooted ok.

My locate and find commands still do not work. There is another problem I have
not mentioned. aa6vn.ampr.org will not respond to incoming smtp or http
requests. This started about the same time as the other problems around Jan 2.

I have gone thru everything I can think of and find no clues as to what is
wrong. Hope you can give me some ideas on what to check. [EMAIL PROTECTED]
