(It's not a dumb question, just thought I'd throw back a different concept).

I do have a linux box that, if it boots up without a monitor sensed, it becomes
"blind," i.e. it doesn't spend ANY cpu time on monitor support. This can be a
Bad Thing (tm) but I understand why they designed it that way. But most of mine
aren't like that.
