Just to refresh my (and others') memory -- this is the Zipslack installation
we are discussing, isn't it? The rest of my questions assume so.
How did you create the "clean empty partition"? If you used DOS/Win fdisk,
what partition number was it? If you used something else, what was it? What
EIDE device is the drive (primary master, primary slave, secondary master,
or secondary slave)? What size is the drive and how many partitions in total
does it have?
EXACTLY what drive/directory are you on/in when you run the loadlin command?
EXACTLY what does that command look like (other than your varying the root
drive designator)?
I strongly suspect this is just a simple error of drive or directory
designation, not a basic system or package problem, but I can't be certain
from your description.
Where do you get the "hint" you refer to below?
