Hehehe.... No... see, the heads on my floppy drive are out of alignment,
just a teeny bit. That means it's OK (most of the time) to read from in
720K and 1.44M formats. It doesn't like anything over 1.44M at the
moment, and it doesn't write because then other drives (including itself)
can't read it exactly back because it's off a little bit.

Been there, done that. :-)

I'm studying to be a hardware technician for computers at the moment. I'm
also studying to get my A+ certification, which I will be getting at the
end of my senior year (I'm going to a vocational high school that offers
such certification, http://www.pentanet.k12.oh.us). I'm also learning C,
C++, and I know BASIC and _SOME_ assembly (i.e., enough to reboot the
computer or crash it completely ;). I can repair problems 80% of the time
with a computer as it is, now. More complicated problems are getting
easier all of the time. And I usually have a licensed technician with me
(a personal friend of mine) when I'm working on a computer-- unless he
can't be there. If I'm uncertain of something, I'll ask 'im and he'll
tell me =).... it's a wonderful way to learn.

I already do the second part with 386s and 486s. Many people can use such
computers for school, or, better yet, LINUX!! =) Fixing a computer is
more or less diagnosing the conflict in a computer about 60% of the time--
the other 40% is due to hardware that has gone bad and needs replaced, or
due to someone's stupidity with a magnet.
