        What do you mean by that?  There is a package manager for every
major distribution.  And that package manager can do the install for you.
Than you can get the tar.gz with the sources.  You compile it and than
normally there is a make install.  There should be a README in every pack
that describes this in more detail.

        Let's say every application has a favorite place - but it can be
customized.  So every pack comes with details regarding this step, unless
you use a package manager.
