Interesting update on the problem install: I successfully installed
debian 2.0!
I have three suspicions. One is that the newer RH 2.0.36 kernel may be
at fault. The second is that I might have changed a BIOS setting (I
don't remember doing this, but I might have. I was playing around
earlier with it, knowing that I could always go back to the default).
Third, I didn't do any partioning under debian. I simply used the hdc1
partition that was already there (I did a small install).
Kernel, BIOS, or partioning. Hmm...
