I'm I brought this problem on myself. But, I compiled a new kernel last
night on my home machine and made additions to LILO to boot from that kernel
(I can still use my old kernel, thank God.). But when I try to boot my new
kernel, it stops and says (I'm paraphrasing here) something like "cannot
mount root drive".
I do remember that there was a message on the screen saying "kernel panic"
and then the message about the "root drive".
Anybody want to take a guess at what I'm doing wrong? I'm looking to get
the new kernel installed on all the machines at work, but not until I can
make it work on my home machine.
I'm sorry if that doesn't make sense. I'm at work right now and am trying
to remember something that happened just before I went to bed.
Thanks in advance,
Scott.
