1 - make mrproper
2 - make menuconfig (if ncurses libraries are installed)
or
2 - make xconfig (to do it in X)
or
2 - make config (least favourable way)
3 - make dep
4 - make clean
5 - make zImage
6 - make zlilo (if your using lilo)
Then if you included modules in the kernel...
7 - make modules
8 - make modules_install
9 - shutdown -r now (if someone can tell me a way to install a new kernel
without rebooting I'd love to hear it)
