It looks like you have 8 megabytes of RAM and 120 megabytes of hard disk space.
You should create a swap file for some swap space.

IMHO, you don't have enough RAM or hard disk space to run 'X'.

Slackware-3.6 (kernel 2.0.35) is installable from floppies.

I suggest the A and AP (? and F ?) series for installation.
This is 14 diskettes. Plus, you'll need a boot & root diskette.

I have 'built' a slackware-3.5 & IP-Masquerade into an 80 megabyte "/" filesystem,
however, I have 64 megabytes of RAM and 40 megabytes of swap. So far,
~ 66 days, it has used 220k of swap. :-|

This included the kernel source and a kernel build. (A, AP, D, K & N series)
If you can find a suitable kernel to boot from, you can save ~30 megabytes of
space by leaving out the D & K series. It would take 'a long time' to build
a kernel with only 8 megabytes of RAM.
