Its possible you have memory that is malfunctioning. If you have access to
other memory, I'd try that.

~Subject: Odd Problem
~
~
~I have a number of small odd problems with my RH5.2 Install that may or
~may not be related.
~
~It started when my system froze during a standard shutdown -r now. It
~stopped responding while it was shutting down the gpm mouse service. It
~restarted again after I moved my mouse. This is now a standard
~occurance.
~
~Occasionally I will load into Navigator in X, and the when I try to load
~the Messenger Mailbox nothing will happen. I will just get the busy
~mouse icon until I quit Navigator. This continues even when I quit out
~of X. The only way i have found to correct it is to reboot the system
~which corrects it 1 out of 3 times.
~
~Occasionally during login, I will enter my username and password and
~then nothing will happen. I can type away on the blank screen but it
~doesn't log me in. this also happens occasionally when I su.
~
~I really don't know where to begin looking for a solution. Any
~direction will be apprectiated.

~James.
