I had the same problem with all my netscapes (4.5, 3 etc). It turns out it
was caused by a library conflict. I had accidentally overwritten an my
libc.so with an old aout version. My solution was to dump the current
libraries back on (I used the rpms off the redhat5.2 distribution) did a
"ldconfig /usr/lib" and rebooted the box and all was cool.

Do you get any other programs exiting with more useful messages (eg. the
sun jdk exited with a more descriptive message on my box), netscape exited
simply with "bus error.". Unfortunately "bus error" doesn't really tell
you anything.

Hope some of this helps, This may or may not be the problem but if you
suspect it may be do an "ls -l|less" in your /usr/lib directory and check
the dates on your main library files, if you find any ones that look
suspicious, see if you can reload them from your distribution and reboot.

The good news is that once you've sorted it out, netscape 4.51 is very
stable (for a netscape).
