Sorry, I can't tell you why you have 'too many root entries'.
But I can tell you that IMHO it doesn't make sense, that this should be a
LILO problem. LILO is placing itself in the Master Boot Record and this has
nothing to do with the root entries of a filesystem ( in this case of WIN95
FAT ).
IMHO this is just an attempt to tell the customer once again that it's his
fault if something doesn't work. !RAGE! Especially since you replaced LILO
and doing a fdisk /mbr really does indeed replace LILO. It's no longer on
your drive.
IMHO the Maxtor software is just buggy.
So back to your problem:
You habe two drives, one for Windows, one for linux?
I assume Win95 is on the first drive and linux on the second ?
If so you could try the following: ( Just a idea never did it)
Create a Win95 bootdisk, copy sys.com, format.com, xcopy and fdisk.com to
the disk. ( Test it!)
Put in your new drive as the first the old Win95 as the second.
Boot with the Bootdisk do an fdisk on the first drive and format it.
Now you should be able to xcopy D:\*.* C:\*.* /S/E everything from D: (old
Win95) to C: (new Win95)
After that do a sys C:
And try to boot from the Harddrive. ;-) (good luck)
