Hi all,
Just thought I should drop a line to say I have solved my install / fstab
problem on my omnibook. I hope this information might be useful to others.
I pulled the HD from the Omnibook and installed it into another 'box'. I
was then able to install without a hitch (even using the CD, the Omnibook
didn't have one.. Much easier)
The first thing I checked when I rebooted was the fstab file. It was the
same as I editied it. I also used fdisk to see if the partitions had
changed any. They hadn't..
It does however answer my original question, the /dev/hda{number} can
point to whichever /{path} you want..
Possibly it was something to do with the low memory of the machine (and
yes I was able to mount the partitiaions manaully, and yes I did run mke2fs
on them)
But the main thing is that IT'S WORKING.. now if only I could get x to
start.....
Thanks to those who responded.
