Simply define the following (if you have not done so already) with make
config.

CONFIG_MODULES=y
CONFIG_MODVERSIONS=y
CONFIG_KMOD=y

edit the file which starts kerneld found normaly in rc.d or lower, comment
out the part which starts kerneld.

Thats it.
