hi all,
i have been following this mailing for quite some time and were
impressed with the generosity in sharing of you guys! i bet that
must be the spirit of the linux community that i have read much
about...
anyway, i have a small problem here. i have corrupted my
/etc/inittab file. hence when booting up, i have been greeted
with a prompt "Enter runlevel:" since. i managed to get into
linux by answering the prompt with "S" for single user mode
and tried to change the corrupted /etc/inittab file by grapping
a copy from another machine. but unfortunately, i can't overwrite
the /etc/iniitab which is read-only. i am stuck here...
is it possible to unmount and then mount the root partition as
read and write enabled? what is the shortest way to recover
my linux machine?
thanks in advance and please keep the spirit going! cheers!
