KDE is more robust than Gnome, but that's only because it had a head start. Gnome tends to be more "fancy" than KDE in terms of high color icons, themes, etc., but KDE 1.2, and especially 2.0, will equal it in this regards. Both have hundreds of usefull "native" applications available, and both will run the applications of the others. In terms of development, KDE is primarily C++, while Gnome is primarily C. Both have wrappers for other languages, but I wouldn't recommend them personally. The basic libraries of each are similar in function. Both are well on their way to distributed network objects, CORBA and OpenDoc type parts. Both have great IDE's, Gnome had gIDE/Glade and KDE has KDevelop. The major difference between the two is political. It's "free" software versus "open source" software. I really can't say much more than that without insulting anyone. I would suggest running both of them, and see for yourself first hand which one better suits your needs. -- Arandir... _______________________________ <http://www.meer.net/~arandir/>
