I'm talking about the kernel 'cause I don't know anything about gnome,
so...
For the kernel I would advice you to try (a mirrorsite of)
www.kernel.org there are all the kernels you can handle.
Choose the version you want and dowload it to /usr/src,
guess you can handle it from there...
