Thanks to everyone who replied with info about Winmodems. I have
discovered, unfortunately, that my modem IS a Winmodem (grumble grumble
cheap piece of $@#&!!) and I'm hunting around for a better one as we speak.
It looks like I'll be going with RedHat 5.2 - it was in a copy of
Understanding Linux, 4th edition, that I managed to grab for free. Is this
upgradable to 6.0, or would I have to buy the 6.0 release?
Winmodems....*software* modems...what is the world coming to?!
