Careful, it depends on the type of HD you have:
- If you use SCSI then what you say is right (more right than you may
think), because SCSI is always considered a 'server' thing. So the
vendors generally guarantee only some thousand startup-cycles!
- If you use IDE (phh...:-) then what you say is wrong. Some vendors
*require* to startup-cycle their devices from time to time ! Generally,
IDE devices are guaranteed more than 10,000 startup-cycles.
