Yes.

If nothing else than Linux is running on the computer (ie. no dual-boot
stuff), you should set your CMOS clock to GMT and set the timezone in
Linux according to the - well - timezone you're in. See distro's docs to
find out how to do this. Then you have to tell /sbin/hwclock and/or
/sbin/clock to assume GMT in the CMOS clock (TZ is not stored in the
CMOS clock :-(
This is done with -u (/sbin/clock) or --utc (/sbin/hwclock) for
'universal time ...'. Check the configuration program of your distro or
edit the init scripts yourself.

You have to tell sendmail, apache, etc the hostname, too:
apache in /etc/{httpd,apache}/*.conf
sendmail - oops that's hard, but I think one line should read
Cw localhost valdez valdez.work.domain

That's the fault: 2nd line should read
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx valdez.work.domain.name valdez.
