Ok. I found the sysklogd-1.3-30 source on the SuSE 6.1 cdrom. Inside the
package was the (I think) original manpage. I took a look at that. It says
it's the manpage of sysklogd version 1.3. The description of the -m switch
is the same as that in the installed manpage :-( Could you do me a favour
and look at the one in your disto? TIA. There's also a diff-file from SuSE.
I looked at that but it has no changes to the code. It only makes changes to
the rc-files and Makefile to allow for the SuSE specific install-tree.

I left my computer on last night. "-- MARK --" loggings every hour exactly
(syslogd started with no parameters). So, there too the manpage is not
conform reality (it says default is 20min). AAAAAARGH! 

I've also been studying how to SIGHUP and restart processes without
rebooting. I hope you will be pleased to hear that ;-)
