Yes very different, 2.2.x are considered stable/prodution kernels, like
2.0.xx and 2.3.xx are development kernels, so expect _bad_ things to happen.
I have read in the linux-kernel-mailing-list that some new kernels have
completely wiped out H/D's "BE WARNED".
