definition 'scanned' = text read, not for comprehension, but only to
understand
the theme or context.

I have nothing against /etc/profile. I do, however, wonder what it is.
OBTW,
cat /etc/profile | grep alias
returns nothing

I 'scanned' to line ~200 and was already overwhelmed.
I've now 'scanned' to line 2483 and still haven't seen any mention of
'profile'.
Man pages make no sense to me. They seem to go on and on about
variables and
switches of things I cannot comprehend. Maybe 'man pages' are intended
to
obfuscate.
How can I convert a man page to a text file so I can search/view/browse
for
the information I seek.
When I enter 'alias', I see five lines of 'alias "variable-token" =
"command-or-whatever" '.
How, what, when, where do I add alias's of my own? /etc/profile ?
Where did Slackware-3.9.0/linux-2.0.37pre10 add those 5 alias lines?
How can I 'man bash' and get to the section on 'FILES:' ? 'page-down'
? 'down-arrow' ?
Is there any way to 'navigate' 'man bash' ?
