My wife, two colleagues, and I all have Toshiba Libretto
50CTs with a 4.3-G Toshiba hard disk, lilo, and a Mandrake
6.0 installation along with W95. All use Gnome with
Enlightenment, the default setup with Mandrake.
My wife uses the machine on the train, and noticed that
battery life was about half an hour for full discharge,
when previous comparisons on the Net led us to expect
longer life than with Windows.
I since confirmed this on my own machine. WIth no activity
the screen shuts down after a while, but the disk keeps
spinning. The battery monitor beeps at each percent drop,
and it took about 10 minutes to go from 63% to 33%.
There must be something we have to install or some setting
we have to change. Any suggestions appreciated.
