i created a folder under "Local Mail" called "Temp". went to the newsgroup
and used "Select All messeges"` and then "Copy To" the Temp folder. the
messeges are now available to read offline.

it could be the fonts. try `changing the point size under preferences. also
there
can be a problem with available fonts under X. i think i remember you are
using red hat? i might be wrong, if so is it 6.0? did you upgrade from 5.2?`
i had a problem when i upgraded, the line:
FontPath   "unix/:-1"
was missing from my XF86Config file. but that might be a direction to look
into. attached is the "XFree86 Font Deuglification mini HOW-TO"

under "Utilities" there is a menu editor. it's all explained in the KDE Help
program.

create a new user and try the GNOME/Enlightenment thing. it's really the
only way to know.
