It could be a DNS trouble. When I was messing around with my DNS settings I
had this kind of trouble. Boot stopped at "Sendmail:", but after a few
minutes, ten or so :-(, it continued (DNS timed out?).
**I think** Sendmail is trying to lookup your hostname(DNS)<->IP, maybe it
also does a reverse lookup. And because you do not have a connection to a
DNS server (dialup is not configured, nor is a local DNS available) it cant
do that.
After I fixed my local DNS server (also reverse), my "boot" goes as it
should.
