First, I have someone that will be burning me a Mandrake 6.1 CD
sometime soon (I hope) for my personal computer when I get it working.
(Anyone know where to get cheap RAM?) In the meantime on this family
computer, I have an RH5.2 installation. I had begun to manually download
RH6.0 files and now I want RH6.1. The hard drive linux is on in this
computer will be moved to my system and it will be reformatted and
repartitioned from what it is now. Since I will have Mandrake, the RedHat
CD would be useless. And Mandrake cannot run on this (486) system because
it has Pentium-optimized binaries.
Second, it isn't just distributions that I'd like to be able to
do this with. For example, when RedHat has its updates directory, or if I
wanted to download new KDE RPMs that aren't in RedHat yet. There are
several places that I would need to download several large files from and
don't want to have to do it manually. Therfore, I would still like to
know how to do this anyway
As for buying "cheap" online, I don't like it. I see all of these
$1.99 CDs, but then I go to order them and they have like $8 shipping
tagged onto them. Looking to pay $2, when the bill totals to $10, I'd
rather wait or download.
