The messages you see are written by X to STDERR (the console, by default).
To save them for later viewing, the easiest thing to do is to modify the
line you use to invokde X, to something like
startx 2>/tmp/xerrors
(I say "something like" because I'm only assuming that you use startx.) This
redirects STDERR (file descriptor 2) output to a file, in the example to
/tmp/xerrors .
That said, the error messages *may* be of no importance. X commonly is
supplied with more video modes than the available hardware can support, and
it reports the ones it cannot use to STDERR. That may be all you are seeing.
Also, the process of exiting from X typically generates one error message (I
forget its exact content), and that is nothing to be concerned about.
