Better idea would be to use cdparanoia, ripenc and bladeenc to convert 
the songs to mp3 files.  i.e. I have several hundred songs from my
CD's on my box now and listen to stuff that I otherwise would have
forgotten about.

If you insist that you want the unadulterated audio on your HD then
just use cdparanoia to yank them off.
