I have a US Robotics 56K faxmodem, which is PCI-PnP. I have been trying
for several weeks now to configure it with no success. My latest step
forward was to read the updated PnP-HOWTO, which shed some light on
several configuration issues.

I followed the HOWTO's suggestion to use lspci and also look in
/proc/pci. The results are the following:

In /proc/pci:

Bus 0, device 16, function 0:
Serial controller: Unknown vendor Unknown device (rev 1).
      Vendor id=12b9. Device id=1008.
      Medium devsel. IRQ 10.
      I/O at 0xe400 [0xe401].

That's my modem. When I run lspci:

00:10.0 Serial controller: US Robotics: Unknown device 1008 (rev 01)

That's my modem.

So... what now? Logic tells me I should assign a port to the device
address and that should do it. I've tried to do so like this:

setserial /dev/ttyS3 port [] uart 16550A irq 10 spd_vhi

With no success. I've replaced [] with 0xe400, 0xe401, and 0x10, which
has done basically nothing except lock my terminal window a couple of
times.

Two other important facts: I'm running Debian 2.1 with a 2.2.3 kernel
and the /dev/ttyS3 was my idea... it's the first port which [I think] is
unused on my machine, so I decided I'd try to stick the modem there.

Any ideas?
