Floppy disks

hmm... I was about to try some of the suggestions on compiling the network
card driver, but I realized that I can't seem to get the file onto my linux
partitions!  I tried copying it to a standard formatted floppy, but in linux
when I go to the /mnt dir and type "mount floppy", it comes up with some
error about invalid disk format. Any clue what's wrong?
