Only 64 out of 128 RAM recognized

I have this weird problem, only 64 MB RAM out of the total of 128 MB are
recognized (according to "free" and "/proc/meminfo"). I have one 128
MB/100MHz memory module. I tried to solve it by
adding append="mem=128M" at the beggining of the file /etc/lilo.conf but
that would not help.
I am using RedHat 6.1, kernel 2.2.12-20. In Windows all 128 megs are used.
