Yes, that is exactly what I am saying. On boot, LILO does not read the
/etc/lilo.conf file. It has it stored somewhere else. (MBR?) In order for
any changes that you make to take place, you must run lilo from your
shell to update the configuration. Try logging in as root, running lilo
and then rebooting and see if that helps.
